The artist who broke the mould
Article Abstract:
Artist Rachel Whiteread first started to attract attention with her piece entitled 'House,' which is the result of a cast of the interior spaces of a terrace house in the East End of London, which has now been demolished. Since completing this piece, she has undertaken a number of shows abroad, and has received proposals for several commissions. However, she is resisting a change in direction, feeling that she works best when dealing with domestic space.

The pencil is mightier than the word
Article Abstract:
Artist Michael Craig-Martin's travelling exhibition, 'Drawing the Line,' covers more than 200 drawings of many different styles and dates. The exhibition will change as it moves around the UK, with old-master drawings only being displayed for a short time in order to protect them from too much exposure to light. The show has been put together through the eyes of an artist rather than an art historian, and works are juxtaposed in striking ways.

Never mind the quality, feel the concept
Article Abstract:
An exhibition of the conceptual art of John Baldessari is currently being held at the Serpentine Gallery, London, UK. His art very much reflects his lifestyle, being made up frequently of fragmented, stolen images. It is based on loose connections, chaotic situations and blank spaces, being purged of everything traditionally associated with art. He has had a considerable influence on the conceptual art movement as a whole.
