Take a long, serious draught of sweet Liberty
Article Abstract:
Anchor Brewery, San Francisco makes Anchor Steam Beer, Anchor Wheat Beer and Liberty Ale, first brewed in 1975 to commemorate Paul Rever's ride signalling the beginning of the War of Independence in 1775. Fritz Maytag, owner of the brewery visited Britain to research ale, on which Liberty Ale is based. It is pale, dry, strong - 6.0% - with a large cascade hop bouquet. Anchor uses hops as flowers and an extra measure of Cascade hops is added when the beer is maturating.
