Taking 'bout my generation
Article Abstract:
Blues singer John Lee Hooker had some success in the 1960s and 1970s, but faded into obscurity for over 15 years, recording only infrequently on very minor record labels. This changed when 'The Healer,' released in 1989, sold in very large numbers. By the time his next album, 'Mr Lucky,' was released, he had gained cult status. However, very little was actually known about him. Detailed investigation reveals that the story of his life reflects a whole stratum of human life in the US in the 20th century.

He was negatively affected by rock 'n' roll, going bankrupt in 1953, but his career was revived in 1958 when he started recording albums with jazz musicians.
