The left is creating a new scapegoat: 'deadbeat dads.'
Article Abstract:
The UK government is adopting a tough line against fathers who fail to support their children. The main reason for this stance is financial, with the government seeking to shift onto absent fathers some of the cost of supporting single mothers. The government must recognize that, while some absent fathers are able to support their children financially, others simply cannot. For this reason, welfare-to-work schemes must specifically target their needs. Such schemes must be firmly based in the local community and address both the employment and educational needs of absent fathers.

The voter changes her mind
Article Abstract:
British women have traditionally supported the Conservative party, rather than the Labour party. However, recent polls indicate that the Conservative party is now losing support among women, especially among younger women. These women may now not vote for the Conservative party for the rest of their life. The dramatic shift in political opinion among younger women will not have a great short-term impact, as there a many more older women than younger women, but will certainly have long-term consequences.
