Television companies set for 1bn pounds sterling windfall from fee cuts
Article Abstract:
The UK's Independent Television Commission has issued proposals under which the ITV companies would save 100 million pounds sterling in licence payments in 2002, reducing their payments to the Treasury to 250 million pounds sterling. This assumes that ITV will broadcast on BSkyB's digital satellite platform by the end of 2001.

Granada's call for single ITV prompts fresh rift with Carlton
Article Abstract:
The strained relationship between Granada and Carlton has come under further pressure as a result of the publication of a leaked letter from Granada Chmn Charles Allen to UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. Allen called on Blair to accelerate legislation to allow Granada to merge with Carlton, the only other large ITV firm.
