Terror in the UK: yesterday Ulster thugs beat their 400th victim since the ceasefire
Article Abstract:
Politicians appear to be ignoring the vicious attacks in Northern Ireland being carried out as punishment by republicans and loyalists, which have officially numbered 400 since 1994, the latest victim being 19-year-old Donal Gray, footballer, supposedly assaulted by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA). According to a spokeswoman from Families Against Intimidation, there are even more assaults, which go unreported because of fear. A particularly nasty case was that of Martin Donnelly, who was crucified with spikes by the IRA.

MP left to ponder folly of a legal nightmare
Article Abstract:
Conservative MP David Ashby has lost a libel action against the Sunday Times newspaper, and now faces financial ruin and the collapse of his career. During the court case, he revealed intimate details about his private life, but was still not able to convince the jury that the claims made about him by the newspaper were incorrect. He has never been a high-profile public figure, but media interest in his activities was heightened by coverage of other cases of alleged corruption and sleaze.

A scrum, a scream and a broken life
Article Abstract:
Suffering a serious and permanent spinal injury forces the victim to almost start life all over again, according to Paul Kilbride, who was a promising young rugby player until he suffered an injury in a match in Apr 1995 which left him paralysed from the chest down. He and his friends found it very hard to accept that he would never walk again, although he has now become more stoical. The main concern now is for his long-term security.
