The Italy where less is more
Article Abstract:
The Italian Cultural Institute in London, England, is currently showing 'Il profilo delle nuvole' ('The Profile of the Clouds'), photographer Luigi Ghirri's photographic essay on the Po Valley, Italy. These photographs indicate that the beauty of this region resides in its emptiness. The landscape appears ordinary and unromantic, but Ghirri constantly encourages the viewer to see its casual elegance and individuality. He presents an Italy largely unknown to ordinary Britons.

A hit in the making
Article Abstract:
The Tate Gallery's forthcoming Cezanne exhibition will show the very high level of the artist's work at all stages of his career, according to Nicholas Serota, director of the Tate Gallery. The exhibition is likely to have a humanising effect on Cezanne, who has frequently been seen as a dry academic artist. One of its main aims is to recapture the elemental power of Cezanne's works.
