The classical tragedy of Diana the hunted
Article Abstract:
There are many elements in the life and death of Diana, Princess of Wales, that are reminiscent of classical Greek tragedy. In this genre, the mass audience was presented with a world in which wealth and even royalty were no protection from violent damage. Tragedy shows a world torn apart, where ordinary people watch the pain of an individual who was significant to everyone. There is also an element in tragedy of asking why such events should happen, as has been the case since the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
