The cracks may be showing in a beautiful friendship, but were the headlines made of straw?
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom government was elected by a large majority in 1997, and the press initially refrained from criticism, even papers that had previously supported the Conservative party. This appears likely to change, as is shown by a report in the Mail that the prime minister, Tony Blair, was booed when he visited the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange. Other newspapers did not give priority to this story which was not an accurate reflection of the visit, but they are eventually likely to change their presentation of the government.
