Four-year switchback of elation and despair
Article Abstract:
There has been very mixed progress in the peace process in Northern Ireland since 1994. The peace talks have lacked real momentum, and there have been outbreaks of violence. Indeed, the major paramilitary groups were temporarily excluded from the talks. There has been a fevered atmosphere as the deadline for reaching an agreement has approached. The constraints of time and political pressures have finally forced the peace talk participants to consider making compromises.

Anniversary shows time is slow healer
Article Abstract:
The legacy of deaths during the Troubles in Northern Ireland will continue to be a significant element in Northern Irish politics for many years to come. Growing emphasis is being placed on the need to take account of the feelings of those bereaved by the 3,600 deaths connected with the Troubles. However, there is still concern that little attention is being given to the cases of those who were killed by the security forces.
