The gloom boom
Article Abstract:
The present singer/songwriters of popular pathos are finding it difficult to produce second albums as appealing as the first. Almost exclusively female, these writers and singers appeal mostly to the angst ridden white teenagers and twenty year olds of the middle classes. Record companies once perceiving them as too left wing, are now promoting them heavily but not appreciating that the writers themselves may develop and move on in style, as will the tastes of the present fans, which makes a first album difficult to emulate in style and sales.
