The great trash can in the sky
Article Abstract:
There are currently more than 10,000 fist-sized and tens of millions of smaller objects orbiting Earth, according to the US National Research Council. The space above Earth has become extremely crowded, and this is making it hard to undertake pure scientific research there. Even very small objects orbiting Earth have a great deal of energy, and this makes them very dangerous. Some experts believe that a cascade effect, in which the debris from a collision sparks off other collisions, could take place within the next 10-20 years.

Stranger in the night
Article Abstract:
There are interesting prospects for exploiting the Moon's resources. The Moon's interior has cooled over the last 1 billion years, and lava flows now hardly ever take place. It has been established that there is ice in the lunar dirt at the poles, and this means that the lunar rocks contain everything needed for supporting life and many profitable activities. The Moon is rich in minerals, some of which could be extracted relatively easily.
