The music goes round and round
Article Abstract:
It is interesting to speculate about the likely acoustic qualities of the Millennium Dome being constructed in Greenwich, London, England. It seems likely that some form of at least partially sound-insulating inner lining will have to be added to the roof of the structure, as it is located very close to the City of London Airport and to the Blackwall tunnels. This lining may in turn determine the building's acoustics. It is well known that hemispherical domes with hard inner surfaces tend to focus the sounds below in small areas.

Welcome to the pleasure dome
Article Abstract:
The Millennium Dome under construction in Greenwich, London, England, is a very impressive building. It has a nautical appearance, and the metal and glass fibre used in its construction make it shimmer attractively. Inside, the visitor finds it hard to gain a sense of the vast scale of the building, and is most strongly aware of its symmetry. Some early visitors to the Millennium Dome have found it difficult to take the building seriously, as it is so unlike anything they have ever experienced before.
