Writers and musicians have often used pseudonyms, but hiding behind another name can become a burden which is difficult to shake off. Pseudonyms are used for reasons such as need for discretion, racial, political and sexual discrimination, for psychological reasons such as an 'alter ego' and to divide up prodigious creative output. Familiar pseudonyms include George Orwell, George Eliot and Sid Vicious; but not everyone is happy to to keep a name indefinitely and some have found it difficult to drop the unwanted name.

Article Abstract:

The 'Self-Storage' exhibition currently being staged at Acorn Storage, Wembley, London, features exhibits housed in vacant storage units. This gives people the opportunity to overcome their reservations about conceptual art, as it creates a much less intimidating atmosphere than a formal art gallery. Visitors are also encouraged to experience some of the strangeness of a commercial storage centre.
