Wake up, my Lords
Article Abstract:
The UK House of Lords is unlikely to be extensively reformed in the foreseeable future. The Conservative party remains firmly committed to the hereditary peerage, while a further Labour government would remove hereditary peers but would be unlikely to go much further in reforming the House of Lords. Against this background, the House of Lords is set to remain the largest and most powerful quango in the UK. A future Labour government should really take steps to extensively reform both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Give us hellfire, not opiate, in the God slot
Article Abstract:
Radio and television coverage of religion in the UK tends to be extremely narrow, with the focus being on accepted religions and non-controversial religious issues. This does not reflect the real world, where religion can be extreme and violent, as is seen in the Middle East and Northern Ireland. Through television and radio, religions seem to conspire to present themselves as reasonable, even when events in the real world show that this is not the case.
