The radio presenters' nursery
Article Abstract:
GLR, formerly Greater London Radio, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The station has evolved to reflect the multicultural nature of the population of London, England, and has provided a starting point for a number of presenters who have gone on to become famous, such as Danny Baker, Chris Evans and Vanessa Feltz. The station's output includes a significant proportion of live music sessions, with its choice of music closely reflecting the preferences of its core audience.

World record holder
Article Abstract:
The purchase of radio station XFM by Capital Radio looks set to have a negative impact on XFM. Capital Radio seems to have little understanding of XFM's culture, and has imposed a 24-hour-a-day playlist system, thus further reducing the opportunity to play new music. Developments at XFM are likely to have a particularly negative impact on DJ John Kennedy, who has gained a strong reputation for being very open to all forms of new music.

Crazy goings on in the wee small hours
Article Abstract:
There is a unique culture associated with late-night radio in the UK. Late-night radio programmes are produced on very small budgets, and often discuss very unusual subjects. However, there is no shortage of people willing to be interviewed on late-night radio or to become involved in producing these programmes. Those responsible for late-night radio programmes are very unwilling to discuss likely audience size and composition.
