The season to come
Article Abstract:
Heavy snowfalls in the Alps have led to a significant rise in demand for late booking ski holidays in the region. Those who are prepared to travel at short notice can make significant savings. It is vital to book early if you want to travel in a group, want specific resort accommodation or have to travel in peak periods, but otherwise late booking is becoming extremely attractive. This is partly because it is now possible to obtain detailed information about snow conditions from the Internet.

Over the hill and long ago
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for nostalgic images to be used to promote ski resorts. Advertising for Beaver Creek, CO, for example, uses a 1930s-style image, even though the resort did not actually open until 1980. Similarly, short-break ski operator Flexiski has a sepia image on the cover of its 1999 to 2000 brochure. There is a belief that old skiing images create nostalgia for a time when skiing was seen as pioneering and adventurous.
