The spirit of Europe lives or dies in Sarajevo
Article Abstract:
Many observers have welcomed the decision by France and the UK to change their policy regarding direct intervention in the war in Bosnia. It is now important to be seen to be taking sides, ensuring that no more innocent people fall victim to the fighting. A large-scale military operation should not be necessary, and the direct military role of France and the UK should be limited to protecting the enclaves of Sarajevo, Gorazde and Bihac.

Siege of Sarajevo declared at an end
Article Abstract:
The Muslim-led Bosnian government has now taken control of Ilijas, a suburb of Sarajevo, and has stated that the Serb siege of the city has been lifted. The Dayton peace agreement set down the return of five Serb-controlled suburbs, including Ilijas, to Muslim-Croat authority. Most Serbs have now been evacuated from Ilijas, and this has been a blow to international moves to make Sarajevo the multinational capital of a united Bosnia.
