Royal Knockout - own goal
Article Abstract:
Media coverage of the royal family in the immediate post-war years remained respectful and limited. This changed in the 1960s, especially following the BBC documentary 'Royal Family' in 1968, which had actually been instigated by the Queen. Since this time, media coverage has become increasingly intrusive. Efforts have been made to appeal directly to newspaper editors to exercise restraint, but this approach has proved unsuccessful because newspapers now compete so fiercely.

A queen who found herself left of the Tories
Article Abstract:
Queen Elizabeth II's relationship with former prime minister Margaret Thatcher was always rather strained, especially after the latter became prime minister. Audiences between the two women were brisk and formal, and the situation deteriorated as Mrs Thatcher seemed to develop a grand, almost monarchical, attitude. Mrs Thatcher was always very careful to observer royal etiquette, but privately believed that it was rather pointless.
