The trouble with crony capitalism
Article Abstract:
It is inevitable that capital will be misallocated to some extent in economies run for the benefit of the government and its close associates. This has taken place on an extremely large scale in the Far East, where cronyism damaged the free market system. It can be argued that the UK Labour party has become bound up in crony capitalism to a certain degree. This is mainly the result of a certain lack of experience in the attitude of Labour leaders to business and in the party's relationship with large companies.

The fall of the House of Warburg
Article Abstract:
SG Warburg, the UK's leading investment bank, has traditionally been seen as strong, successful and an inspiration to the rest of the financial services industry. However, its reputation has declined rapidly over recent months, particularly with the resignation of Lord Cairns as chief executive. It is now being seen as demoralised and lacking direction, and people are now becoming aware of the problems which have in fact been developing over the last few years.
