The world hangs on a butterfly
Article Abstract:
The UK government has failed to understand the real nature of public concern about genetically modified (GM) food. The government seems to believe that labelling of GM food is the best solution, as this allows people who wish to avoid eating GM food to do so. However, public concern about GM food goes further than personal health, as many people are also worried about the impact of GM crops on ecosystems. GM crops have the potential to bring a range of benefits, but it is important to proceed with caution and to invest extensively in research.

The man with his finger on Sony's pulse
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp of America Chmn and CEO Howard Stringer was regarded by some observers as a potential candidate for the position of BBC Director-General. However, it appears that he will remain committed to Sony, and in particular to the development of digital television. He is British, but has worked in the US for many years and acquired US citizenship in 1985. It is likely that he will be able to exercise more power in a leading position at Sony than he would as BBC Director-General.
Comment:
Has reported that Howard Stringer had been considered for post of BBC Director-General.
