There are over 200 Internet providers in the UK. But how many can survive?
Article Abstract:
There are more than 200 Internet service providers in the UK, but the market is in fact dominated by a small number of very large players. The largest service provider is WorldCom, which has purchased 40 companies since 1992. It owns UUNet, operator of the Pipex brand, one of the most well-known Internet providers in the UK. It is likely that most Internet users in Europe will before long gain access to the Internet through a telecommunications company. Small service providers will be unable to compete directly, prompting some to shut down and some to merge.

From no-go to logo area
Article Abstract:
The Police and Magistrates' Courts Act, which came into force in Apr 1995, allows police forces to raise up to 1% of their overall budgets from sponsorship. Company logos are already appearing on police cars, and police forces have welcomed the opportunity to release more funds for front-line policing work. However, the reaction of the general public has been more critical, with many people feeling that police forces should receive more funding from the government.
