David French, who was responsible for transforming the National Marriage Guidance Council into Relate, has recently resigned from the organisation. He feels that he has fulfilled his potential at Relate, and is now looking to take his career in other directions. The organisation has changed dramatically under his leadership, and in 1994 counselled 70,000 people. He believes that the organisation's main role is to provide a safe environment in which couples can decide for themselves whether they want to stay together.

Art Rogers saw a photograph in The Los Angeles Times of a sculpture by artist Jeff Koons that was identical to a photograph he had taken and had copyright on. This photograph, called Puppies, was turned into a sculpture by Koons called String Of Puppies and copies of the sculpture were sold for $125,000 each. Rogers has taken Koons to court and the case has moved to a federal Appellate court after going against Koons in a lower court. He could lose up to $2.8 million.
