Silent carnage among the wild rose
Article Abstract:
It remains uncertain what caused the very serious train crash near the railway station in Eschede, Germany. The official version of events is that the train from Munich, Germany, to Hamburg, Germany, must have rammed the bridge pillar next to the track when it passed at speed through the station. It appears that a car fell from the bridge onto the rails. High speed trains, which have carried 130 million passengers since 1991, have a very good safety record.
