They locked up our lovely daughters
Article Abstract:
Michelle and Tracy Tyler were given a life sentence for the murder of Alison Shaughnessy on Jun 3, 1991. Evidence was based on Michels' diary entry which claimed she wanted to murder Alison. Michele was having a love affair with Alison's husband. Alison was stabbed 54 times in her flat in Battersea, London, UK. The sisters' were released on appeal on Jun 11, 1993 as a result of their parents' campaigning. The sisters were imprisoned at the female prison Holloway where they were prescribed drugs. There is evidence that the prosecution made errors by discounting a begger's confession that he killed a woman in south London.

Article Abstract:
Sociologists, educationists and journalists have created a stereotype of the single-parent family which is untypical and unfair. Many statements of probability have been published which could be self-fulfilling because of their prevalence. The facts about the living conditions of single-parent families may cause illness and early death, but such problems are not inherent. Young women are usually paid so little that there would not be enough to pay the rent after paying the cost of child care.
