The new pilots of the airwaves
Article Abstract:
Virgin Radio goes on the air on Apr 30, 1993 and will broadcast classic album rock. Its sales director John Pearson is delighted with the opportunities, the station being national except for a few hilly areas and covering the right age group of 25 to 44. It uses presenters, not disk jockeys, and they will just present, not chat endlessly as is the case with other stations. Chief executive David Campbell says everythng broadcast will have merit and nothing will be includeed unless it is good.

Right up her street
Article Abstract:
A BBC film crew used a Christmas bazaar in a small English village called Finstock as the location for a story about famous novelist Barbara Pym. Finstock is where she lived in real life and where her sister still lives. Miss Pym set her books in similar cosy little English villages. Not all locals approved of filming at their bazaar. The film follows a partly true, partly invented day in Miss Pym's life and the cast is a also a combination of real people and actors.

Article Abstract:
Jim Jacobs was an advertising copywriter in the 1960s but became a millionaire when he wrote 'Grease.' He based it on his schooldays in the 1950s. The original musical was staged in 1971 and it was on Broadway in 1972. It returns to London, England, at the Dominion Theatre in 1993. Jacobs lives in LA and writes occasionally. He created the pilot for 'Happy Days.' All versions of 'Grease' are appreciated as the rock melodies and fun produce a cheerful response.
