Third of natural world lost in 25 years
Article Abstract:
There has been a decline of more than 30% in the global abundance of plants and animals in forests, the seas and freshwaters since 1970, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Human activity has destroyed a third of the natural world during this time. The WWF's new Living Plant Index seeks to measure the impact of human consumption of natural resources, as well as providing a country-by-country 'consumption pressure rating' for 152 countries.
