Article Abstract:
Teaching a child to read can be a frustrating process, and it may be difficult for a parent to understand why the child cannot read, just as the child does not know how the parent can read. Parents may feel powerless to open the door to the riches that reading can bring the child. Learning to read brings a separation between parent and child, and children may be afraid that their parents will not read to them any more. Parents may hope that books will satisfy some of their children's relentless curiosity.
