Visitors to the South Korean island of Cheju may initially find it hard to get around, as few signs are in English and few of the island's residents speak English. It is worth making the effort to find an English-speaking guide, as this allows the island's attractions to be fully appreciated. These include Mount Halla, an extinct volcano, waterfalls, unusual rock formations and Manjung Cave. The island is also associated with the haenyo, women who dive down to considerable depths to find sea shells.

Frinton-on-Sea, England, is one of the few remaining traditional British seaside resorts. There is a restrained, polite atmosphere, but the town also has an air of eccentricity. Local people are keen for the town to remain in a byegone era, and firmly resist any signs of commercialization. No major events ever really take place in the town, and local newspapers cover apparently rather trivial matters. However, this approach meets with the approval of residents.

Grenada's beautiful beaches are its main tourist attraction, but the island, one of the Windward Islands, also offers other points of interest. St George's, the capital, has a strongly Mediterranean atmosphere. It has steep, narrow streets and a noisy, colourful market. Outside the main tourist areas, Grenada remains undeveloped. Local people are friendly, and there is a very relaxed atmosphere. It is particularly worth viewing Grenada's coral reefs.
