'Tortured' pilot sues Kuwait for compensation in UK court
Article Abstract:
Foreign governments have traditionally been immune from prosecution in the UK, but history is now being made by the case of former Kuwaiti pilot Suleiman Al-Adsani, who has received permission to serve writs for compensation on Kuwait through the British courts. He claims that the Kuwaiti government assisted in his torture, and is now hiding in the UK after receiving death threats. Kuwait has replied that the rules of immunity prevent it from being held liable for acts of torture in its own country.

Revolutionaries who survived the Fall
Article Abstract:
The Socialist Workers Party seems to manage to make its presence known at every demonstration, and its activities frequently receive media coverage. It claims to have doubled its membership over the past three years, at a time when similar organisations in other countries have become a spent force following the collapse of Communism. It has become quite influential, and has particular power within the National Union of Teachers.
