Tory council investigated over finances
Article Abstract:
The Fraud Squad investigates accusations that Bromley Borough Council, south east London, England, lost hundreds of thousands of pounds sterling through fraudulent practices. Bromley, a Conservative stronghold, was a pioneer in the privatisation of children's homes and care for the elderly, but financial disciplines were ignored and irregular payments and contracts were awarded. Former director of the borough's Department of Social Services and Housing Mike Carpenter used a special Standing Order 40 to waive the borough's financial regulations.

Informer tells of neo-Nazi football gangs
Article Abstract:
A British National Party (BNP) informer Tim Hepple provides evidence in his magazine Searchlight that the BNP is responsible for much of the racist attacks in the UK. Hepple claims that the BNP has links with the US Church of the Creator which was founded in 1973 and which provides weapons training. Links have also been established with football hooligans and the illegal Ulster Defence Association. Disillusionment with the BNP led to the establishment of an extremist neo-Nazi group in 1990 called Combat 18. It has set up branches nationwide.
