Trainspotting: that's just the way it is
Article Abstract:
Some observers accuse 'Trainspotting,' the film version of Irvine Welsh's cult novel, of glamorising drugs. The film portrays the problems of beating heroin addiction, but also gives great detail about the high which drugs can give. Director Danny Boyle defends the film, stating that it had to show both sides of the drugs culture in order to be meaningful. Former heroin addicts who acted as technical advisers to the film-makers also deny that there is any glamour in the film.

Around the world - or just around the bend?
Article Abstract:
There have been a number of Britons who have undertaken lengthy solo voyages at sea. The latest is Samantha Brewster, who has become the first woman to sail alone the 'wrong' way around the world. Psychologists believe that the most successful solo sailers are people who are self-reliant and strong willed. Many appear impulsive and eccentric, and are unwilling to tolerate the weaknesses of others.
