Treaty bans spread of nuclear arms for ever
Article Abstract:
The Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which bans the spread of nuclear weapons, has been renewed indefinitely following an agreement between delegates from 178 nations and four weeks of talks. The US and the UK have welcomed the move, but France has expressed some caution, emphasising that it will probably have to make more nuclear weapons tests to ensure that it has a credible nuclear deterrent while simulation techniques are developed. Russia has not yet given its reaction to the renewal of the treaty.

There has also been serious damage in the town of Tungshi, which remains cut off.
