Marilyn Silverstone, once a professional photographer, is now a buddhist nun living in Tibet and looking after the little boy monks at the Schechen Tennyi Dargveling monastery. Born into a wealthy family she became a photographer for the New York Times, but on a trip to India she felt impelled to stay and eventually worked for the Magnum photographic agency. After meeting the Lama Khventse Rinpoche she became a buddhist nun and now through her photographic work and personality is raising funds for the monastery and the children.

Author Govindas Vishnoodas Desani, 84, lives in Austin, Texas in 1993. He was acclaimed in the UK in the 1940s and when he left London for India in Jul 1951, about 150 literary people gathered to say good-bye. T S Eliot and E M Forster were among those who appreciated him. His comic work 'All About H Hatterr' was reprinted by Bodley Head in 1970, but since then his books have been out of print in the UK. He spent years on a spiritual search in Burma and India. He lectured on Theravadin Buddhism at the University of Austin.
