UK: INTERNET BIDDING ON YBAG.COM WEBSITE
Article Abstract:
Ybag.com, a UK website on which customers place requests for purchases and companies attempt to win business by offering the best deal, was launched in March 2000, and already has almost 4,000 customers. Around 900 companies, including Maplin Electronics, have signed up to the site. The principle reverses the practice of existing auction sites, where one person offers something, and bidders then push the price up. On other sites customers club together in order to bulk-buy at cheaper prices. The advantage of Ybag and a similar US-based site, Respond.com, however, is that individuals may force down prices without forming a group.
