UK: DIGITAL SIGNATURES DEAL FOR POST OFFICE
Article Abstract:
It has been suggested that the Post Office is in final negotiations with an Internet security company over a deal to offer its customers 'digital signatures', which will have the same function and legal strength as a handwritten autograph. As a result of the deal, thought to be with US software giant Verisign, customers will be able to make transactions in a matter of minutes, and with a high degree of security confidence. Although the Post Office currently offers a discreet online verification service for its business-to-business clients, it is still likely to face tough competition from high street banks.
