UK: SURVEY ON AIR RAGE INCIDENTS
Article Abstract:
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) occurrences of air rage on UK airlines happens four times on a daily basis. A seven-month survey by the CAA carried out between April and October 1999 found nearly 800 reports of disruptive behaviour from passengers. Alcohol and smoking bans were the main contributing factor for the incidents.

A study of 630 patients suffering from deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) has found that two thirds of patients complaining of serious blood clots had travelled by air within the previous four weeks.

There are doubts as to whether British Midland, the UK's second biggest scheduled airline, will continue with its floatation now that it has become a member of the Star Alliance group of carriers. It is believed a public offering is the more favourable option for the group, and it is predicted the group will enter the stock market within eighteen months.
