US: BABIES OF SMOKERS HAVE SMALLER AIRWAYS

According to research conducted by Dr Robert Castile, whilst the lung size of children of smokers is normal, their airways are smaller which makes them more susceptible to respiratory and breathing problems. A clinical study of 80 children less than three years old showed that passive smoking meant that they had one fifth less lung function than children of non-smoking parents.
