US and Britain accused of creating heroin trail

Some observers believe that Afghanistan's Taliban regime is deliberately flooding the world market with heroin, opium and hashish. It had imposed a ban on opium poppy production, but it failed to stop the production and export of heroin from existing stockpiles. It is now threatening to lift the ban if it is attacked.

Fall of strategic city would alter course of conflict
Article Abstract:
The taking of the strategic city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, by the opposition Northern Alliance is a significant propaganda victory for the US-led coalition. Taliban morale will have been badly affected, and there could now be rapid changes.
