That sinking feeling - again
Article Abstract:
Italians find it very hard to decide how to protect Venice, Italy, from flooding. This is largely because of the very complex nature of Italian politics. Sea defences have become a controversial political issue, and this means that no progress has been made, in sharp contrast with other countries. It is clear that the Venice lagoon must be carefully protected, but it is also necessary to accept that environmental conditions are changing and that new steps must be taken to protect Venice.
