Vera Collingwood

Photographer Vera Collingwood studied philosophy at the University of Rome, Italy. She pursued a range of interests during her marriage to Bill Collingwood. After his death in 1975, she took up photography seriously. She gained a strong reputation as a photographer, becoming particularly well known for her photographs of many National Trust and other houses. She developed a great ability to capture the essence of houses and gardens.

Francois Bedarida

Historian Francois Bedarida was born in Lyons, France, in 1926. He studied at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, France, and was a researcher and teacher at the Institut Francais in London, England, between 1950 and 1956. He became Director of the Institut d'Histoire du Temps Present in Paris in 1978.

Sheila Fletcher
Article Abstract:
Historian Sheila Fletcher was born in Mansfield, England, in 1924. She studied History at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, England, and later took up a history lectureship at Wall Hall College of Education. She completed her doctorate in 1976.
