Visions of Mary and Mammon
Article Abstract:
Considerable controversy has surrounded the House of Prayer established by Christina Gallagher on remote Achill Island off the coast of County Mayo, Ireland. Gallagher gained growing international attention as a visionary with healing powers, and the House of Prayer began attracting between 200 and 500 people on pilgrimages each week, bringing substantial sums of money into the island's economy. However, some clergymen became concerned about the personality cult emerging around Gallagher. She has now decided to close the House of Prayer, leaving the local community bitter and confused.

Where there's muck there's brass - and it could be yours
Article Abstract:
The UK government is presenting its planned National Waste Strategy as an incentive to encourage households to recycle more of their waste, rather than a tax on households in relation to the amount of rubbish they produce. It hopes to bring the UK more into line with some continental European countries, where recycling levels are high and householders can even be fined if they throw away waste which can be recycled. Environmentalists warn that there must be the right structure to accompany the government's plans.
