A renaissance down the boozer
Article Abstract:
Many pubs in city centres in the UK are poorly designed, especially if they are intended to have an old-fashioned atmosphere. However, improvements are now being seen in this area. There are now a number of pubs in London, for example, which have a very welcoming atmosphere and do not seem pretentious. Indeed, most cities now have at least one extremely atmospheric traditional pub. Really good pubs are created when sympathetic design, good food and drink and enthusiasm are combined.

A natural magician
Article Abstract:
Hungarian architect Imre Makovecz is greatly admired by both professionals and the general public in many countries. He takes an elemental, organic approach to architecture, and this gives his buildings connections with the past, the present and the future. Most of his buildings are designed for local people, and are in some cases built entirely by them. This gives his work a universal and timeless element which reminds people of their place in popular culture.
