Wanted: but dead or alive?
Article Abstract:
The concept of retribution seems to have become increasingly attractive to ordinary people in the western world over recent years. In the US, for example, the survivors of the 1995 Oklahoma bombing and the families of those who perished will decide the fate of Timothy McVeigh, who has been convicted of the crime. The majority believe that he should receive the death penalty. Psychologists believe that revenge allows the victim to gain some short-term relief from suffering, but that in the long term it may have a negative effect, making the victim feel guilty for inflicting suffering.

Will a change of scene leave Beryl Cook uninspired?
Article Abstract:
It is very common for artists to make constant reference to the same locality in their work. Toulouse-Lautrec, for example, derived inspiration from the cafes and dance halls of Paris, France, in the late 19th century, while T.S. Lowry is closely associated with the industrial landscape of Salford, England. However, attachment to a place does not always relate merely to the environment. The repetitive nature of artists can be seen in their subjects, as well as in their locations. Furthermore, it is generally possible for an artist to change location or subjects successfully.

Good old Hume, but what exactly does he stand for?
Article Abstract:
Irish nationalist leader John Hume has gained considerable respect as a result of his consistent refusal to approval violence as a way of furthering the nationalist cause. However, it is hard to identify any clear policies in Hume beyond his anti-violence message. The language he uses disguises his ultimate political aims, and he is deliberately unclear about the limits he sets on the ambitions of nationalism. This vague approach is not helping at all in his efforts to win over Unionism.
