We cry today - and then we get angry
Article Abstract:
There has been a vast public outpouring of grief in the UK following the train crash near Paddington station, London, England. Media coverage of serious train crashes in 1915 and 1952 adopted a cool, detached tone, but media coverage of the most recent train crash has been very different, focusing largely on private grief. Most interestingly, attention has been given to the emotions of the rescue workers. It is now accepted that Britons can be uncertain and can express their grief in public.

In the fields of conflict
Article Abstract:
It is a cause for great regret that many species of flower and bird are dying out in the UK. To a considerable extent, this problem can be attributed to the widespread use of herbicides. However, going into the fields to destroy genetically modified crops is not the solution. Campaigners who have done so have received very negative publicity. It is important for campaigners to make it clear that they do not oppose progress but that technology cannot necessarily be used to control nature.
