We must face the truth of violence in America

Article Abstract:

Shooting incidents have become part of everyday life in the US, and journalists in other countries now seem to have little to say about them. However, it is important to consider what these incidents say about US society. The fact that all the shootings have been carried out by men gives an insight into issues relating to masculinity and the right to bear arms. Another important trend is that these killings have generally been revenge attacks by somebody who feels excluded, often from the work environment. It is clear that Western patterns of work can lead to people becoming unhappy and to societies becoming destructive.
