We wear three times as much make-up as most women, but we're nothing like a dame
Article Abstract:
The most attractive thing about appearing in pantomime is being able to make people laugh, according to actor Danny La Rue, who has become one of the most well-known pantomime dames in British theatre. He finds it almost impossible to define the secret of the success of pantomime, and sees pantomime as a timeless art. Pantomime dame Michael Sharvell-Martin believes that pantomime dames are a specialist art form in their own right. He always makes his pantomime dame characters loveable, and plays the traditional dame, as opposed to a dame played by a female impersonator.

Crackers about life in the fast lane
Article Abstract:
Acting gives you considerable freedom in how you behave, while the structure of the documentary format is much more limiting, according to actor Robbie Coltrane. He had intended to focus on acting at this stage in his career, but was persuaded to become involved in a documentary series entitled 'Coltrane's Planes and Automobiles.' He has always been very interested in engineering, and feels that it should be taught in a much more exciting way in UK schools.
