What you see is what you get
Article Abstract:
The four basic components of a personal computer (PC) system are the keyboard, the screen, the printer and the rectangular box that contains the major working parts. The keyboard is almost identical to that of an electric typewriter but with a few extra keys. Modern printers produce high quality output at comparatively low cost. Modern screens can produce up to 32,000 colours which looks nice but for most routine tasks are unnecessary. The box contains components like the disk drives, the processor, power supply and the software. The basic software, or programme, is the operating system that tells the electronic components how to carry out the computer's tasks.

Neasden: a new home for the gods
Article Abstract:
Construction work on the Swaminarayan temple in the London borough of Neasden is now nearing completion. It has been under construction for two and a half years, with work being carried out by up to 90 volunteers a day. It is faced with 2,000 tons of Italian marble, and its style seems strangely out of place in such an ordinary part of London. It is the first temple of this style to have been constructed anywhere in the world for at least a century.

Waiting for the end of the world
Article Abstract:
People have predicted the end of the world at many different stages throughout history, particularly when a significant date has been approaching. The modern form of the End of the World philosophy was developed in the early 20th century, and has been taken up by a number of different cults and sects. Some sects have taken their predictions so seriously as to undertake mass suicide.
