Where serendipity rules
Article Abstract:
Brazil is a country of many contrasts, possibly as a result of its unusual racial mix of Portuguese, Indian and African. The interior of Brazil has a number of magical places, including the former gold mining town of Ouro Preto. This is situated on a large number of steep hillsides, and has many beautiful Baroque churches which were built following the discovery of gold in the surrounding hills in the late 17th century. It has great architectural and natural beauty, and a number of its buildings contain very attractive paintings and antiques.

The boys are back in town
Article Abstract:
Many villages in the Abruzzo region of Italy hold festivals to mark the Feast of the Assumption. The festivals take place in the middle of Aug, and the heat can create a tense atmosphere. Tension can also arise when outsiders, often looking for trouble, travel from village to village to attend the festivals. The Feast of the Assumption is no longer closely linked with the Church, and priests feel that they cannot establish genuine links with the local community any more.
