Torment of going to bed without food
Article Abstract:
Many of the residents of the UK's poorest areas cannot afford to purchase healthy food such as fruit and vegetables regularly. They are aware that eating badly can bring health problems, but are often forced to live long distances from shops where high quality, inexpensive food is available. If local shops exist, then they charge high prices because of lack of competition. Research indicates that poor people who receive more money are very willing to spend this on better quality food, rather than waste it.

Almost the Last Post of all for the old men of Dunkirk
Article Abstract:
The Dunkirk Veterans Association (DVA) visits the beach at Dunkirk, France, every year in memory of the retreat that allowed the soldiers to fight again. The DVA was set up in 1953 and once had 20,000 members, but this has dropped to some 6,000. The youngest former soldier will be 80-years-old in 2000. The event they remember is the rescue of 230,000 allied troops during the 1939-1945 war. Some former soldiers see the event as so significant that its memory should live as long as possible.
